Phospholipase A2, Group IID (PLA2G2D) is a secretory member of the phospholipase A2 family. Members of the phospholipase A2 family hydrolyze the Sn-2 fatty acid ester bond of glycerol phospholipids to produce lysophospholipids and free fatty acids. Due to the importance of PLA2 in inflammatory responses, regulation of the enzyme is essential. cPLA2 is regulated by phosphorylation and calcium concentrations. cPLA2 is phosphorylated by a MAPK at Serine-55. When phosphorylation is coupled with an influx of calcium ions, cPLA2 becomes stimulated and can translocate to the membrane to begin catalysis.| Typical data
